Rapid testing for businesses
The latest information for businesses on enhanced and rapid testing in Bolton.
Due to Bolton’s current COVID infection rates, businesses, residents and visitors are being advised to remain cautious and vigilant. For the past few weeks, enhanced testing and vaccination has been taking place across key areas in Bolton to combat rising infection rates.
Anyone who tests positive during enhanced testing must self-isolate along with members of their household to protect others.
Those struggling with self-isolation can contact Bolton Council’s COVID-19 Helpline on 01204 337221 and may also be eligible for financial support.
Residents with COVID symptoms should book a test as normal via the national online portal.
There are no local restrictions in Bolton or any other area in England, and individuals and businesses should continue to follow the national guidance. The government has provided advice on the additional precautions people can take to protect themselves and others in areas where the new variant is prevalent. This includes, wherever possible, trying to meet outdoors rather than indoors, keeping 2 metres apart from anyone you do not live with and minimising travel in and out of the area.
Businesses should keep doing their bit and continue making every reasonable effort to facilitate their employees working from home. If homeworking is not possible, employers should take steps to ensure their workplace is COVID-secure and continue to enable social distancing and provide adequate ventilation.

What does this mean for my business?
Businesses should keep doing their bit and continue making every reasonable effort to facilitate their employees working from home. If homeworking is not possible, employers should take steps to ensure their workplace is COVID-secure.
Businesses should continue to:
1. Enable social distancing and provide adequate ventilation, additionally, employers should note that social distancing requirements still apply in the workplace and in businesses like shops and hospitality.
2. Support contact tracing in the workplace
3. Enable staff to self-isolate
If you test positive for Coronavirus (COVID-19) you must therefore stay at home for at least 10 full days in order to prevent passing the virus on to others. You can pass the virus to others, even if you are showing no symptoms.
- GC Business Growth Hub has created a guide with key steps employers should take to enable staff to self-isolate when required to do so.
- We have developed a COVID-19 Self-Isolation Support Pack you can share with employees to support them during their self-isolation period.
