The Employment Rights Bill, introduced in October 2024, aims to modernise employment law and strengthen workers' rights
Key changes include extending unfair dismissal protection to day one of employment, limiting "fire and rehire" practices, and requiring employers to offer guaranteed hours contracts. The bill also enhances protection against harassment, particularly sexual harassment, and introduces reforms to trade union legislation. Many provisions are expected to come into force in 2026, with some taking effect even later.
