Making the most of your hearing
This free half day course allows those with mild to moderate hearing loss, people with deteriorating hearing, carers and family members of people with hearing, and anyone who works with people with hearing loss. The course covers tips for making the most of your residual hearing, information on assistive technology – hearing aids, loop systems, amplified phones, text relay services and other devices to aid communication, and introduction to both lip-reading and sign language.
The Handmade Sign Choir recently returned to Bolton Deaf Society, after a break during Covid. This group is open to those both hearing and deaf who share a passion for music.
Audiology Drop-in with Royal Bolton Hospital
This service allows the deaf and hard of hearing community to attend Bolton Deaf Society to receive support with hearing aids and implants. We also have a store of batteries for those who might need them.
Here at BDS we have a number of rooms available to rent. We currently have a number of groups that make use of the spaces offered, including Darby and Joan Group, Sports and Social Club, and the Sign Inn Café / Crafts Group, and soon hope to reengage our Deaf Asian Ladies Group. We have a bar located on the 1st floor and boast a newly refurbished multifaith space on the ground floor.
