IRONMAN returns to Bolton
England’s largest IRONMAN weekend is back in Bolton from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd July and athletes of all ages and abilities will be hoping for the fantastic support Bolton is famous for.
The weekend starts on Friday evening with Nightrun, a 5k funrun around the town centre. This is followed on Saturday by the world’s largest IRONKIDS event, before the weekend ends with the main IRONMAN event on Sunday.
Bolton will play host to over 7,000 competitors over the three events with large crowds of spectators expected to support the athletes. If you would like to support the event and attract customers, the council can supply a business pack with window posters and stickers. Please email firstname.lastname@example.org
To keep the competitors safe, temporary road closures will be required over the weekend. For further information on road closures please visit the IRONMAN website.
This year for the first time there will be closures in Smithills (north of the A58), plus amended timings through Heaton, Lostock, Bolton town centre, Tonge and Breightmet.
Bradshaw, Bromley Cross and Horwich will see less of the course this year.
- Pedestrians CAN cross the course at any time when it is safe to do so.

- There are NO RESTRICTIONS at any time to any of the emergency services.
