Late night deliveries and beauty treatments to resume in Bolton

Salons can resume close contact services and takeaways in Bolton can now make deliveries after 10pm, the government has confirmed.

New COVID-19 measures introduced in the borough earlier this month included an order for all hospitality businesses to operate as takeaway only and to close at 10pm.

Now the government has announced the following changes:

  • Remaining restrictions on close contact services (including face treatments, eyebrow threading and make-up application) have now been lifted

Bolton Council leader, Cllr David Greenhalgh, said:

“I know the announcement regarding beauty treatments will come as a great relief to all those who work in the sector.

“They have been disproportionately affected and I am delighted they can now get back to offering those services in a safe environment.”

The COVID-19 infection rate in Bolton remains one of the highest in the country and a number of strict laws and guidelines remain in place:

  • Do not meet anyone from outside your household (or support bubble) in a private home or garden
  • Do not meet than in a group of more than 6 in a public venue or outdoor space
  • Avoid meeting anyone from outside your household (or support bubble) in a public venue or outdoor space where possible
  • Avoid public transport except for essential journeys
  • Work from home if you are able to do so
  • Staff in retail, and staff and customers in indoor hospitality must now wear face coverings
  • A maximum of six people can take part in indoor team sports

Bolton Council’s Director of Public Health, Dr Helen Lowey, added:

“The more we can reduce contact with people from outside our household or support bubble, the sooner that will bring the virus under control and bring the infection rate down.

“As well as sticking to the local restrictions, continue to follow the basic steps that will prevent the virus spreading further.

“Maintain a social distance of two metres, wear a face covering when required, wash your hands regularly and if you develop symptoms then self-isolate immediately and book a test.”
