Businesses in 128 Greater Manchester postcodes can earn a share of £3M by changing their energy use

Businesses across 128 postcodes in Greater Manchester can boost revenue this spring by adjusting their energy use at specific times.
Electricity North West, in partnership with Greater Manchester’s Bee Net Zero, is promoting the ‘Flex and Save’ campaign.
Paul George, commercial lead at Electricity North West, explained that instead of building more infrastructure, businesses in key areas can earn money by altering their electricity usage during peak times. This approach keeps the network resilient, reliable, and cost-effective while reducing carbon emissions and benefiting local businesses financially.
By reducing energy usage at peak times, investing in energy efficiency, or using onsite renewables, businesses can earn financial rewards and help the environment. Flexibility services are offered in high-demand locations, and companies that can adjust their energy use will benefit the most.
Paul added that they aim to secure up to 550 MW of capacity, with support available to help businesses participate, ensuring inclusivity across all sectors and sizes.
