Restrictions eased as Bolton brought in line with Greater Manchester

Bolton will be brought in line with the rest of Greater Manchester from tomorrow (Oct 3).

Stricter restrictions have been in place in the borough since last month in response to a sudden rise in COVID-19 cases.

The government confirmed yesterday (Oct 1) that pubs, bars, cafes, and restaurants can reopen.

Indoor play including soft play areas, bowling alleys, casinos, conference centres, exhibit halls can also reopen, and more guests will be allowed at weddings and funerals.

Full list of what changes from 00.01 tomorrow (Oct 3):-

  • Bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants can reopen. Table service only and must close between 10pm and 5am. Delivery services only after 10pm (late night license required after 11pm)
  • The rule of six applies if you are visiting bars, restaurants, pubs, cafes with other households
  • Indoor play including soft play areas, bowling alleys, casinos, conference centres, exhibit halls can also reopen with appropriate precautions in place
  • Previous advice against restarting indoor theatrical or concert performances no longer applies
  • Up to 15 guests will now be allowed at weddings and 30 can now attend a funeral

It is still against the law to meet people you do not live with in homes or gardens, inside or outside of the borough, unless they are in your support or child care bubble.

Bolton Council’s Director of Public Health, Dr Helen Lowey, said: “We are still seeing a large number of COVID-19 cases in Bolton.

“With more businesses and venues opening up, it is essential that we all follow the necessary precautions to avoid another spike in infections.

“Although the rule of six applies to meeting others in places like pubs and restaurants, we are still strongly advising that people do not mix outside of their household as we need everyone to reduce their number of contacts.

“Please keep following the Hands, Face, Space advice - wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, wear a face covering, and try to keep your distance from those not in your household.

“Also, if you develop symptoms self-isolate immediately and book a test.

“Following these simple steps will really help us to make a difference in reducing the transmission of COVID-19.”
