Have your say about Chorley New Road’s enhanced cycle lane
Residents and businesses are invited to have their say about an enhanced cycle lane on Chorley New Road.
There have been modifications to some cycle lanes in Bolton on some key corridors which were identified through the successful #SafeStreetsSaveLives public consultation.
The Chorley New Road Scheme have been funded through Greater Manchester’s allocation of £19m from the Government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund.
Bolton Council is now reopening the conversation to give residents and businesses the opportunity to comment on the scheme.
Bolton Council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport, Cllr Stuart Haslam, said: “More people have taken up cycling and walking during the pandemic and I hope for health reasons they will continue to do so and that others will join them.
“The Chorley New Road scheme has been in place for some time and now Bolton Council would like local people to have their say on these plans to help shape and develop the scheme. We want as many people as possible to send in their views so we can reach a fair and transparent decision.
“The aim is to make roads safer and accessible for all road users – walkers, cyclists and motorists.”
To date, Bolton Council has partially implemented a scheme on the A673 Chorley New Road, which was split into two phases for delivery.
New cycle lanes have been introduced as well as the enhancement of existing cycle lanes through road space reallocation and the provision of light segregation in the form of reflective bollards.

The closing date for comments is Sunday 4 April 2021.
A further scheme is proposed on the A6 Manchester Road / Salford Road and further details on this scheme will be announced later in the year.
Following the consultation, the council will consider the feedback received to refine the scheme and best meet the needs of users.
